Ogun police arrest robbery suspect, recover arms

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old, Wasiu Aliu, a suspected armed robber, in the Sagamu area of Ogun State.
Aliu was apprehended at about 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday while trying to flee from Sagamu to Ikorodu on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.
The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, on Thursday, confirmed that the suspect was intercepted near the Lafarge Cement Factory in Sagamu, along the Ikorodu Expressway.
Odutola stated that upon searching the suspect’s bag, a locally made pistol and two cartridges were found.
She said, “On March 4, 2025, at approximately 1:05 p.m., personnel from the Police Mobile Force attached to the Armoured Personnel Carrier on Sagamu bank patrol duties acted on credible intelligence and apprehended a robbery suspect.
“The suspect, Wasiu Aliu, a 28-year-old male resident of Ikorodu, Lagos, was intercepted and apprehended near the Lafarge Cement Factory in Sagamu, along the Ikorodu Expressway.
“At the time of arrest, he was fleeing Sagamu towards Ikorodu on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. A subsequent search of the suspect yielded a locally made pistol and two expended cartridges.”
She added that an investigation was ongoing and that the suspect, along with the recovered firearm and motorcycle, had been handed over to the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Sagamu for further investigation.
