One dead, five injured in auto crash along Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan Expressway

One person died while five others sustained injuries in an auto crash that occurred on Monday evening around the Old Faari filling station axis of the Ijebu-Ode–Ibadan expressway.

The accident involved a black Toyota Previa with registration number APP 963 GU.

Spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident, describing it as a lone crash.

He said the accident was caused by excessive speeding, which led the driver of the Toyota car to lose control and veer into a nearby bush.

According to him, TRACE officials, police officers, and operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were on the ground for rescue operations.

Akinbiyi explained that the deceased had been taken to the Ijebu-Ode State Hospital morgue, while the injured victims were rescued to Ola Oluwa Hospital, Ago Iwoye.

He added that the affected vehicle had been evacuated from the roadside to the Police Cage at Oru Ijebu to clear the road for traffic flow.
