Operatives arrest suspects over drug trafficking, theft in Rivers

Suspects
The Obio/Akpor Security Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC) in Rivers State has apprehended several suspects in connection with drug trafficking and theft.

Speaking on February 16, 2025, OSPAC’s General Commander, Obidike Nwokohu, disclosed that the group intercepted a waste bin truck carrying tramadol and codeine during a recent operation.

The suspects, who disguised themselves as waste management personnel, were arrested, and the drugs were seized as evidence.

In a separate incident, OSPAC operatives arrested a man, identified as Chukwuemeka George from Abia State, for allegedly stealing a manhole cover at the Rumuokoro flyover. George reportedly confessed to other criminal activities, including stealing car batteries and burglary.

Nwokohu reiterated OSPAC’s commitment to protecting the community, stressing that Obio/Akpor remains a safe area for law-abiding residents. He called on the public to report any security concerns to OSPAC, emphasising the importance of collaboration with other law enforcement agencies to combat crime.

The suspects, he noted, will be handed over to law enforcement for further investigation.
