Passengers escape death as vehicles collide on Third Mainland Bridge

Several people narrowly escaped death yesterday following a collision between a Toyota Camry and a commercial bus on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The accident, which occurred near Adekunle Junction on the Lagos-bound lane, caused the commercial bus to somersault multiple times, leaving chaos in its wake.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, including bikers and patrol teams, swiftly arrived at the scene to administer first aid to the injured. Officers from the Adekunle Police Division also joined the rescue efforts.

The Guardian learnt that eight people, including the bus driver, sustained varying degrees of injuries, while a few passengers managed to escape unhurt.

According to eyewitnesses, the commercial bus, a Danfo with an unidentified registration number, was reportedly speeding when it rammed into the rear of the Toyota Camry. The impact caused the bus to flip repeatedly, with passengers trapped inside.
