PFN mourns slain Delta cleric, demands thorough investigation

Late Bishop Clarence Chinedu James

The Delta State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) is mourning the killing of its General Secretary, Bishop Clarence Chinedu James, in an incident that has heightened concerns over the safety of religious leaders in the country.

Bishop James, until his death, was the General Overseer of Endtime Reconciliation Ministries in Asaba, Delta State capital.

The fellowship described the late cleric as a committed servant of God, whose death has left the Pentecostal community devastated.

In a press statement issued by the Director of Press of PFN Delta, Pastor Malcolm Oteri, the fellowship expressed grief over the incident and called for justice.

Chairman of PFN in Delta State, Bishop Abos Willie, also described the killing as tragic, saying it had plunged the entire fellowship into mourning.

He called on the Inspector General of Police to order a comprehensive investigation into the murder and ensure that all those linked to the crime are arrested and prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command said it had commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The development followed the arrest of a domestic staff member allegedly linked to the murder of the cleric.

Spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect was arrested on May 13, 2026, while allegedly attempting to dispose of the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Council of Anambra State.

Ikenga said police operatives acted on credible intelligence to track and intercept the suspect in Nkpor, recovering the stolen vehicle and taking the suspect into custody for further interrogation.

The police added that investigations were ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang allegedly connected to the crime.
