PHOTOS: Lagos communities struggle as Oyan Dam releases water
As the Oyan Dam releases water, Lagos communities, especially the Mile 12, Agiliti and Irawo areas of the state, find themselves submerged, prompting urgent pleas from the state government for residents in low-lying areas to relocate.
The state government also called on property owners to relocate to higher ground to ensure their safety. Amid growing concerns, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, reassured affected residents that measures are being put in place to manage the flooding effectively.
The government has acknowledged the sanitation issues in these neighbourhoods and stressed the need for responsible practices to prevent further complications.
Wahab stressed that the state is committed to finding long-term solutions, including the construction of drainage systems to mitigate future flooding risks.
