
No fewer than 52 Suspected kidnappers, cultists, fraud stars, and gunrunners have been arrested by the Police in Warri, Ugheli, Sapele, and other locations within two months in Delta State.
Parading the arrested Suspects in Ugheli on Wednesday evening, the command spokesperson Bright Edafe named them as 34 suspected kidnappers, 12 cultists, two fraudsters, and four gunrunners.
Edafe explained while parading the Suspects that N5.5 million, seven AK-47 rifles, one AK-49, one G3, six pump actions, nine locally made guns, 53 ammunition, and seven cutlasses were recovered from them.
“It is an obvious fact that this master stroke by the CP has been paying off as you can see today”, said Edafe who gave the names of the Suspected kidnappers as Bakpor Isaiah, 34, Victor, 31, Ogheneochukwu Emmanuel, 47, and Godspower Clifford, 19, were arrested on September 12, 2024, through a sting operation in Sapele town.
Edafe said that the suspects were arrested following “the
strategic deployment of personnel, effective collaboration with DPOs, and proactive intelligence gathering mechanism deployed by the Police Commissioner, Mr. Olufemi Abaniwonda, in combating crime in Ughelli, Warri, Sapele, and environs”.

He said the CP had applied wisdom to deploy a special team to Ughelli headed by ASP Julius Robinson with a clear mandate to partner with the DPOs in the areas to ensure that people sleep with their two eyes closed.
