…Recover Stolen Generator Worth ₦650,000

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspects over cultism, armed robbery, and recovered a stolen motorcycle and parts of a 10KVA generator valued at ₦650,000.

This follows the Command series of operational breakthroughs through sustained intelligence-led, preventive, and community-responsive policing across Ago-Iwoye, Mowe, and Warewa Divisions.

Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

In Mowe, the Operatives of the Division arrested a 26-year-old male suspect identified as a notorious leader of the Eiye Confraternity operating within the Mowe axis.

Babaseyi said that the suspect’s arrest follows the Command’s credible intelligence to uncover plans by the cult group to carry out an initiation exercise aimed at recruiting new members and expanding its activities within the area.

“Through sustained surveillance and proactive deployment, operatives successfully arrested the suspect and disrupted the planned cult initiation exercise before it could be executed.”

“During investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to his leadership role and admitted involvement in cult-related activities,” he said

Babaseyi added that the suspect had been transferred for further investigation and prosecution.

In Ago-Iwoye, the Operatives of the Division swiftly responded to a violent armed robbery incident involving a commercial motorcyclist along the Ita-Merin axis of Ago-Iwoye.

The Police Public Relations Officer said that the victim was attacked on June 16, 2026, by two passengers he had conveyed on his motorcycle.

He explained that the suspects used a hammer to strike the victim on the head and body, inflicting injuries before dispossessing him of the motorcycle.

Babaseyi said that following a distress alert, residents pursued and apprehended one suspect

He said police operatives arrived at the scene on time and restored order, preventing mob action against the suspect.

Exhibits recovered include a stolen motorcycle and the hammer used in the attack

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects operate in a coordinated manner, targeting commercial motorcyclists along isolated routes using a hammer to overpower victims and dispossess them of their motorcycles.”

“Further investigation established that the arrested suspect is linked to similar incidents within the axis, indicating his role as a key actor within a broader criminal network,” he added.

Babaseyi said that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and dismantle the criminal network.

In Warewa, Operatives of the Division arrested a suspect involved in the diversion and illegal disposal of a 10KVA generator valued at ₦650,000.

Babaseyi said that the complainant reported that the generator, which was rented out for legitimate business use, was unlawfully diverted and sold at a suspiciously low price of ₦15,000.

He said that, based on the information, the detectives acted swiftly on credible intelligence and traced the exhibits to Kara-Isheri, where the suspect was arrested while dismantling the equipment into parts.

The Police Spokesperson said that some parts of the generator were recovered as exhibits.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect may be connected to a wider pattern of similar fraudulent activities involving rented equipment.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals connected to the case and recover additional exhibits,” he added

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism, vigilance, and swift tactical response of the operatives involved.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing, crime prevention, and sustained pressure on criminal elements across the State.

The CP further assured that Ogun State remains unsafe for criminals.

He urged members of the public to continue supporting police operations by providing timely and credible information.
