The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers during a coordinated operation in Song Local Government Council of the state.
According to a statement issued by the command on Sunday, the suspects were apprehended on January 24, 2026, following credible intelligence received by operatives attached to the Song Divisional Police Headquarters.
Signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the operation was carried out in collaboration with local hunters and targeted a suspected criminal hideout in a remote area of Balma village.
The suspects were identified as Shaibu Mohammadu, 30, and Ja’o Bawa, 31, both males. During the raid, police recovered one locally fabricated revolver rifle, which has been taken into custody as an exhibit. Other items recovered included two mobile phones and charms.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of kidnapping activities within Song and the surrounding communities. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate who are currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, commended the effective collaboration between the police and community members, describing the operation as a significant step in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining security and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies.
The police command also assured that the suspects would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
