The Police in Anambra have confirmed the killing of a policeman and two others by gunmen in two different locations in the state. The Guardian gathered that the hoodlums allegedly killed the people on Monday for violating the sit at home order directed by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) months ago, which the group claimed had been cancelled.
It was further gathered that the gunmen killed one person at Utuh in Nnewi South council Area, while two others were shot dead at Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Council.
Confirming the two separate incidents, the State Police Command, said the victims included security personnel. Spokesperson for the command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Toochukwu Ikenga, said, “Our men have been deployed to the venue of the incident in Ozubulu. One of the men has been identified as a policeman, while the second is yet to be identified.
“Our men also recovered a vehicle at the scene of the incident, but we are not sure yet the ownership of the vehicle; whether it belongs to the victims or the assailants. The men have been deposited in a morgue.
“As for the incident in Utuh, we are yet to confirm that, but our men have been sent there. Command has also mobilised fully to counter any further attacks.”
