The Lagos State Police Command yesterday paraded 23 suspected cultists and showcased 106 vehicles recovered from suspected fraudsters and other criminals, alongside a large cache of arms and ammunition.
Commissioner of Police Jimoh Oluhundare Moshood disclosed this while briefing journalists on the command’s recent achievements over the past months.
Moshood explained that some of the recovered vehicles were acquired through advanced fee fraud, others were stolen, while some were intercepted en route to being smuggled out of the country. He said 38 of the vehicles were presented during the parade, while an additional 70 immobile vehicles are awaiting identification by rightful owners.
The CP urged members of the public whose vehicles may be missing to come forward for possible identification. Addressing reporters, Moshood expressed concern over existing laws that restrict the parade of suspects, arguing that media parades serve as a deterrent to criminal activity and offer victims an opportunity to identify alleged perpetrators.
He also highlighted the success of new crime prevention strategies introduced under his leadership, stating that these measures are aimed at protecting lives, property, and investments across Lagos.
The commissioner further disclosed that 23 suspected cultists were apprehended in response to the growing menace of cult-related violence. Arms and ammunition recovered during these operations were also displayed as evidence.
Moshood reaffirmed the command’s commitment to crime detection and prevention, assuring Lagosians that the police remain resolute in curbing criminal activity and maintaining public safety.
