The Delta State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Chief Shimite Love, Special Adviser on Trade and Export to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who died under mysterious circumstances on Easter Monday in Asaba.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed that an autopsy is being conducted to determine whether her death was natural or if foul play was involved. He stated that her husband, who reported her death to the police, is currently in protective custody.
“He is not under arrest,” Edafe clarified. “He contacted us himself, informing us of her death and raising concerns over threats from her family. For his safety, we placed him in protective custody while investigations continue.”
According to Edafe, following the husband’s report, the deceased’s family later filed a formal complaint, alleging possible foul play and expressing suspicion about the husband’s involvement.
Governor Oborevwori, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, expressed profound grief over Chief Love’s passing, describing her as an intelligent, charismatic leader who served the state with distinction.
“She was an exceptional professional, and her demise is a great loss to Delta State,” the governor stated, offering condolences to her family and the Ebu community in Oshimili North Local Council.
