Police rescue abducted girl, arrest two suspects in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has rescued a 22-year-old woman abducted by kidnappers in Tashan Randa village, Fika Local Council.

The incident occurred on May 6, 2025, when kidnappers attacked the residence of Malam Maikudi and abducted his daughter at about 5:58 p.m.

In a statement released yesterday in Damaturu, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdulkarim Dungus, confirmed the rescue operation.

“The Fika Divisional Police Headquarters promptly responded by initiating a thorough investigation, which led to the rescue of the abducted girl,” Dungus stated.

He revealed that the operation uncovered the kidnappers’ hideouts in remote areas of the community, with a ransom demand of N5 million playing a key role in locating the suspects’ den.

The collaboration between the police, hunters, and vigilantes resulted in the successful arrest of two suspects: 30-year-old Waiti Bello and 35-year-old Idrissa Adamu, from Jangalawaje and Biriri villages in Gujba Local Council.

Recovered items included a Dane gun and a motorcycle used in the abduction. Dungus added that other members of the gang remain at large, with efforts ongoing to apprehend them. The arrested suspects have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with security operatives in the ongoing investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the efforts of the security personnel and called for community collaboration in tackling crimes such as sexual assault, armed robbery.”
