Mr. Fati Odunayo Boluwaji has been installed as the 41 President of the Roraty Club of Agbara. The event was also used to raise fund for the star project and other projects and activities of the club as well as induct new members and inaugurate the club’s board members.
At the event, funds were raised for the club star project and other projects and programmes. Speaking, the new President of Rotary Club of Agbara, Boluwaji said he joined Rotary International through Rotary Club of Agbara in 2021 during the year Rotary spoke of opportunity.
Boluwaji, who is excited to lead the club at this time, said Rotary Club is a service organization where members collectively with their friends, corporate organisations and partners do good things to impact immediate communities, especially around the club’s seven areas of focus.
According to him, the star project for his tenure is the renovation of a primary school in Igbesa area of Ogun State.
“Our star project is in the area of education and youth development. This was why the guest speaker spoke eloquently on education as it brings about development and progress to any society. There is a primary school, Salvation Army School 2, Igbesa with a block of classrooms that is dilapidated. Aside the roof and chairs are damaged, the environment is not appropriate for good learning. And for that reason, the board of Rotary Club of Agbara approved that we should take up the project of renovating the school.”
Boluwaji was optimistic that the project will be completed on time because the club has executed a similar project before.
“I want to leave a legacy of peace as it is a united year in the club and I am ready to serve with commitment, dedication and passion. Also, I want to bring up young leaders that will be able to sustain the legacy of the club. I am also believing that we will increase the membership of the club by 20 per cent.”
He implored club members to know that service above self is the ideal of the club, which they must uphold at all time. “Rotarians do selfless service. Most of the projects that we do are not beneficial to members directly but underserved community members,” Boluwaji stated.
The guest speaker spoke on the place of leadership and education in transforming a society.
