Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has unblocked the human rights lawyer, Festus Ogun, who sued the former over the alleged blocking on X.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile, disclosed this on Saturday in a post on his official X account.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has again displayed leadership by inviting a citizen that sued him over the alleged blocking on X,” Akosile stated.
“To the governor, every Lagosian is his citizen and the government-citizen engagement is his mantra. He engages with the citizens at every available opportunity.
“Thanks to my friend, Festus Ogun for equally showing some high level maturity and understanding, and willingness to continue to engage constructively for the development of our dear state. Governance is a collective responsibility.”
Lawyer Ogun also corroborated Akosile’s statement in a post he made on X, thanking Governor Sanwo-Olu for unblocking him on the social media platform.
“Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unblocked me on X (Twitter). I met briefly with him yesterday (Friday) at Lagos House Marina, on his invitation, to amicably resolve my complaint of human rights violations. We will continue to hold authorities accountable, regardless,” he said.
“An average Nigerian governor would have lined up array of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to defend my lawsuit. However, Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, where I live and work as a legal practitioner, has toed the honourable and commendable path of unblocking me. Aluta continua.”
Ogun added that the governor took time to explain the circumstances surrounding his blocking on X.
