The Lead Consultant of Sunna Television, Mohammed Tukir Ibrahim, has said that coordinated access to traditional justice from an Islamic perspective will ensure the massive reintegration of repentant Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.
According to him, access to justice and conflict resolutions are tools to navigate the recovery process, forgiveness, and reconciliation. The Consultant spoke, yesterday, in Maiduguri, during a three-day train the trainers workshop organised by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in collaboration with Sunna TV.
“We remain committed to promoting constructive narratives by providing platforms for dialogue and supporting efforts that strengthen unity, understanding, and community engagement.”
Ibrahim, while highlighting the challenges of reintegration of the repentant terrorists, stated that stigma and the lingering traumas among repentant insurgents and their victims led to what he described as social exclusion from the various communities in the state.
“Community distrust between the repentant terrorists and their victims requires the establishment of victims support centres with agreed conditions by the government at the state and local council levels,” he said.
