Two dead in soldier, police clash in Nasarawa
Two people have been confirmed dead in the Agyaragu Community, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, following a violent clash between a Police Special Constabulary officer and a soldier.
Police spokesman in Nasarawa, DSP Ramhan Nansel, told journalist in Lafia on Sunday that two police stations in the community were also attacked.
According to DSP Nansel, the altercation began when a soldier on leave got into a fight with a police Special Constabulary officer in Agyaragu, resulting in both parties stabbing each other leading to the death of the soldier.
In response, youths from the soldier’s neighbouring community reportedly mobilized and attacked, setting the police stations on fire.
Nansel added that calm has since been restored in the area after a visit by the State Commissioner of Police, Shehu Nadada.
