Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has inaugurated the construction of a central ultra-modern motor park in Gusau, a project aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure, generating revenue, and creating job opportunities. The motor park, located on the Sokoto-Zaria Road, is part of the administration’s broader strategy to modernise the state capital.

Speaking at the event on Monday, Governor Lawal described the initiative as a transformative effort that will improve the livelihoods of those reliant on motor park activities while also contributing to the state’s economic development.

He emphasised the importance of modern infrastructure in boosting security and ensuring Zamfara competes favourably with other states.

“This state-of-the-art motor park will feature modern facilities designed to accommodate commuters, passengers, and commercial motorists in a safe, efficient, and organised manner,” the Governor stated.

The project includes numerous amenities aimed at improving functionality and comfort. According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the facility will feature designated departure lines, a police outpost, a clinic, a fire brigade station, a mosque, an administrative block, a union office, public conveniences, a park hotel, a loading bay, a shopping mall, a travellers’ terminal, a waste disposal unit, a warehouse, a workshop, and a car wash area.

Governor Lawal highlighted the economic impact of the project, noting its potential to create jobs during both the construction and operational phases. “During the construction phase, the project will employ both skilled and unskilled labourers. Once operational, the park will become a hub for commercial activities, benefiting entrepreneurs, service providers, and countless others,” he said.

Beyond economic benefits, the initiative is expected to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Gusau while fostering a vibrant and liveable environment for residents. “This project aligns with our broader vision of creating a modern, vibrant, and liveable environment for our people,” the Governor added.

Governor Lawal concluded with a prayer, seeking divine blessings for the project and expressing optimism about its long-term impact on Zamfara State. As work begins on the ultra-modern motor park, residents and stakeholders look forward to a facility that promises to redefine transportation and commerce in the state capital.
