Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has harped on the need to cultivate an environment where every young professional could thrive and foster diversity, inclusivity and equity.

He said the values were not only morally right, but equally crucial for attracting, retaining, and inspiring the next generation of leaders. Olawande spoke yesterday in Lagos at the Young Managers’ Summit and grand finale of the Young Managers Competition by the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).

Represented by Funke Lawani, the minister canvassed workplaces that reflect the richness of societies, where every young professional could thrive, contribute, and feel proud of where he or she works.

According to him, today’s young professionals are entering the workforce with a strong sense of purpose, seeking not only careers but environments that reflect their values and are equipped to solve complex challenges.

Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hazmat, who was represented by the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, urged youngsters to imbibe work ethics, and see themselves as chief executives, even as they look at the bigger opportunities offered them through career mentorship.

President and Chairman of Council, NIM, Dr Christiana Atako, said the summit brought together budding and emerging managers to engage in dialogue on critical corporate and management topics and issues, as well as to propose forward-thinking solutions.

She added that the competition was replete with creative and research abilities for the youths to hone their skills in conducting independent, in-depth research, and fostering analytical and original thinking.
