32-year-old cultist docked for murder, robbery in Ondo

The police in Ondo State, yesterday, docked a 32-year-old suspected cultist, Sulaiman Imole, before the Chief Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge of murder, cultism, and armed robbery.

The police in Ondo State, yesterday, docked a 32-year-old suspected cultist, Sulaiman Imole, before the Chief Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge of murder, cultism, and armed robbery.

Imole had been on the radar of the police before he was arrested. He was accused of perpetrating a series of heinous crimes, including alleged murder of one Ayodele Bosede, popularly known as ‘school boy’, as well as some other persons.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Festus Ajbuke, the suspect committed the crimes while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons. The prosecutor told the court that the defendant’s actions contravened Section 316 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

Imole was also accused of allegedly robbing one Abubakar Zakari, while being armed and dispossessed him of valuables worth thousands of naira contrary to and punishable by Section 1, 2 (a), and (b) of the Robbery Firearms laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

However, Chief Magistrate A. O. Adedapo, did not take the plea of the accused, and adjourned the case till when the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) would file its legal advice before the court.
