THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of conniving with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hoard the distribution of permanent voters cards, (PVCs) in Enugu State.

The party alleged that PDP officials in the state had in collaboration with INEC officials collected large number of PVCs belonging to most APC members in some local government areas in Enugu north senatorial zone   with the intention to rig the next election.

While inaugurating the OJ Support Group of the party aimed at sensitising the electorates on the need to vote APC during the elections, governorship candidate of the party, Mr. Okey Ezea, revealed that “most of our members have reported incidents where they were directed to collected their PVCs from PDP officials in the their wards.”

Ezea added: “APC members went to INEC for the collection. INEC gave them phone numbers of people who later turned out to be PDP officials from whom they will collect their PVCs. The aim is to reduce APC voting strength during the election.”

He specifically mentioned the case of an electoral officer in Igboeze South Council, who allegedly collected PVC and handed over to PDP officials in the area.

But reacting to the allegations, the PDP dismissed the claims as “an egregious hoax and product of someone’s very putrid imagination”.

A statement signed by the Director of PDP Campaign Organization in the State, Chukwudi Achife said the claim was not only totally unfounded but was a mischievous ploy by Ezea to provide excuses in advance for “his impending third time defeat by the PDP in gubernatorial elections in the state” Achife noted that contrary to Ezea’s claims, the PDP in the state and nationwide, had been at the forefront of the campaign to compel INEC to ensure that all voters were issued with their PVCs, and wondered how the party could now collude with the same INEC to  hoard the cards.
