RUMOURS that Arthur Nzeribe was terminally ill and that his wife has abandoned him are “mischievous and arrant nonsense,” the former senator said.

According to his Special Aide, Collins Ughala, who spoke on Wednesday in Abuja, “all he experienced was a domestic accident which resulted in some pains in his hip region, and he had to be hospitalised.”

He explained that Nzeribe was hospitalised for just 10 days after slipping in his house but that the whole thing was blown out of proportion, with some media reports claiming that he has become incapacitated after cracking his skull.

Ughala who noted that such accidents do happen to any septuagenarian, added: “Other reports went as far as claiming that he has been abandoned by his wife, his wealth split among members of his household and his house under lock and keys.

“A few days after he fell, he began complaining of pains in his hip and was taken to the Nizamiya Hospital in Abuja. The doctor discovered that there was a crack in the hipbone and advised him to go for surgery, which was successful. That was all.

“His wife has not left him and no one has split his wealth in any way. She is princess with royal blood and has no need to resort to such antics.”

Ughala added: “I want to state categorically that Arthur Nzeribe has authorised me to tell the nation and those peddling such evil reports that he is hale, hearty and in good spirits. He will address the media when he finds time off his busy schedule.”
