
• Ekwunife beats Umeh in senate race
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the February 23, 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has defeated his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari, in all the 326 wards of Anambra State.
Chief Returning Officer and Chairman of State Collation Officer for the election, Prof. Francis Otunta of the Michael Okpala University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, who announced the result, however, failed to grant the PDP’s request to include the over 20,000 votes it claimed to have scored.
Equally, incumbent Senator Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) lost to Sen. Uche Ekwunife of the PDP in the national assembly elections held same day.
The returning officer for Anambra Central, Carl Nwankwo, stated that Ekwunife defeated Umeh and Sylvester Okonkwo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), among others
