Nigerian Institute of Legislative Studies with its incomplete data aimed at favoring its sponsors failed to answer the key question namely what % those salaries represent of the national budget, the per capita income, as well as the # of employees supported by each grand salary.

if you just run the number, yes it might look like they are not getting paid much. However by them getting all those allowance, it means they never touch their salaries. Nigeria elected official are getting everything paid for. 300k for newspaper, in these days of electronic media. we can’t do a comparison with countries like the US or UK. they are wealthy than Nigerian, and don’t have the level of poverty, corruption and sickness that Nigeria has. now you can also compare the value for the money being paid, right now, Nigerian’s are not getting the value.
