WORRIED by the rising involvement of teenage girls in suicide missions and prostitution in recent time, faith based organization involved in rehabilitation and sheltering of destitute girls, Daughters of Abraham Foundation (DOAF) has condemned the rising enrollment of young girls in the acts, saying all citizens must accept responsibility to curb the menace.

Speaking in Abuja at a ceremony to receive donations of vocational training equipment and other household utensils donated to the Foundation by Systems Application Product (SAP), DOAF Executive Director, Evangelist Margret Bargo said the growing involvement of young girls in prostitution and violence is a sign of failure on the part of family as well as society.

She added that religious organizations must also rise to the occasion by harping on the need to create a society that respects the rights of the girl-child for unimpeded development.

Bargo who identified the objectives of the foundation as primarily to restore, shelter and rehabilitate needy girls and women, stressed that any society that fails to cater for its female population, especially teenage girls and offer them protection in the face of any challenge, is indirectly encouraging rise in national decadence.

She called on well-meaning Nigerians to join hands with the organization to support needy girls, orphans and commercial sex workers.

Speaking at the event, Rev. Colonel Bargo of the Anglican Communion, described the gesture by DOAF as highly commendable and worthy of emulation. He stressed that catering for the needs of the girl-child, women and the needy in society releases God’s favour, adding that no one has it all, but those who share with others are entitled to God’s blessings.
