Kaduna APGA, LM guber candidates quit race, support Ashiru
Gubernatorial candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Polycarp Gankon and Liberation Movement (LM) Party, Ezekiel Habila have stepped down from the race.
They declared their support for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Isa Ashiru Kudan, to form a formidable challenge against Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
Addressing a joint media briefing with party supporters, Gankon said, they made the decision after due consultation with their members to rescue the state from the many challenges bedeviling it.
He said they made the decision not under any durex or monetary influence, but to ensure that Kaduna State gets the best in moving it forward.
“In view of this decision, we are calling on all our supporters to massively support the PDP in the governorship election of March 9, 2019.
“We also appeal to our supporters not to be discouraged due to the outcome of the Presidential election, which was rigged in favour of the ruling party. We must be resolute and determined to come out en masse and vote the PDP,” he stated.
Speaking further, he said: “We still have candidates contesting for State Houses of Assembly for some constituencies and are still contesting, kindly support and vote for them but for the governorship, we should all vote for PDP.
Speaking, Hahila, who corroborated Gankon’s views said: “In our opinion and those of our party members and teaming supporters, this is the best thing to do in order to move Kaduna State forward and effectively checkmate the reoccurrence of what happened during the Presidential elections in the state.”
He pointed out that they would both mobilise material and human resources to support Ashiru and ensure that he emerges victorious at the polls, urging all well-meaning citizens of the state to support the move.
