New DEPOWA president charge to organise prayer for their husbands

The President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) has been charged to organise a national prayer, as the last resort for the Nigerian military to overcome Boko Haram insurgents.

The outgone President, wife of former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Mary Iya Badeh yesterday in Abuja, while handing over the mantle of leadership to her successor, Omobolanle Olonisakin, gave the charge that the fight against the insurgents was still ongoing,

“I will advise her to organise a prayer for our husbands, because we need prayers now more than ever before. In anyway she can organise it, it would be of immense help, that is what we need right now. We cannot go out to fight, but we can only assist them in prayers,” she said.

She appealled for more support for the incoming President, Mrs. Olonisakin in order for her to succeed.

Olonisakin, while thanking her predecessor for a job well done, assured her that they would “definitely maintain and build on her achievements and those of the previous administrations.”

She craved the support of all stakeholders in DEPOWA to work as members of one family to “contribute and impact the barracks community positively and assist our husbands to carry out their assigned tasks.”
