Following the suspension of three commissioners over alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duties in their various ministries, Governor Francis Nwifuru on Wednesday directed three special assistants to take over the respective ministries.

Three special assistants are – Water Resources, Franklin Ukah, Housing and Urban Development, Patrick Enyi, and Dr Sabinus Nwibo of Primary Health.

They are to take charge of their respective ministries as acting commissioners.

The three suspended Commissioners were Mr. Chinedu Nkah – Water Resources, Engr Francis Ori – Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Moses Ekuma – Health.

Chinedu Nkah and Engr Francis Ori were indefinitely suspended while Dr Moses Ekuma was suspended for three months

The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr Jude Okpo stated these in a press briefing on the outcome of the state executive council meeting in Abakaliki.

The Commissioner said the directive, according to the governor, was to ensure that the business of governance does not suffer in the absence of the suspended Commissioners.’

He said the appointments take immediate effect.
