BARELY one week after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders led by Senator Grace Bent stated that Adamawa PDP governorship candidate ,Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, lacks the political strength to win the forthcoming governorship election in the state, another chieftain of the party Mr. Daniel Richard, has added another dimension to it, saying that Ribadu can only win the election when the poll is conducted in Abuja-venue of the primaries where he was allegedly awarded the PDP ticket.
Richard, who spoke to The Guardian Friday in Yola said that vote for Ribadu would not only be glorifying illegality, but it would rubbished the tenets of rule of law and democracy.
“I am not against Ribadu as an individual. The illegality that surrounded his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate is the main subject that sound-minded people of Adamawa are against. If Ribadu had won in a free and fair primary conducted in the state, no one would have asked any question. We should have been be glad to work for him.But the kangaroo process that brought him as our party’s candidate is unacceptable to majority of us”, he stated.
The PDP chieftain, who disclosed that the Adamawa governorship election is a battled between the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Jibrilla Bindo, and the candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Markus Gundiri, pointed out that his party dribbled itself out of the game.
Richard, who went memorial lane, recalled that ousted Gov. Murtala Nyako, emerged through the same illegal process that produced Ribadu, adding that “if one was bitten once by a snake, if he sees an ordinary rope on the ground, he will be frightened”.
He added: “What many of the PDP leaders fails to understand is that it is not APC, SDP or other political parties that will vote against PDP. It is PDP members that will sink the party in the state.”
