EVEN as the war against Boko Haram terrorists by the military rages in the north eastern part of the country, the Kaduna State Police Command has uncovered the den of an extremist Islamic sect in Farakwai village, few kilometers to Zaria city where armed police dislodged the members called Kalakato and arrested six members of the fold.

The sect, which was said to have been operating in the village for many years, incurred the wrath of the security authorities when a boy was discovered to be in its custody and was chained for many years.

When security operatives stormed the operational base of the Kalakato members, a woman and two other young boys were also found in a solitary confinement in the compound.

Leader of the sect, names unknown escaped arrest when armed security operatives stormed the area; however, the compound where the sect members operated was searched and some weapons including AK 47, machetes and other dangerous weapons were found concealed in the house.

Spokesperson of the Kaduna Police Command, DSP Mallam Zubairu however, assured citizens in the state that the police were on top of the situation and had commenced investigation into the nefarious activities of the sect members.

Since the intervention and the dislodgement of the Islamic sect by armed security, Farakwai village had remained calm, while the villagers were seen going about normal activities.

Against the backdrop of this and other violent activities Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has assured the people of improved security towards putting an end to attacks by the terrorists.

The Governor made the pledge while on campaign tour to Zangon Kataf Local Government Area where he also pledged to complete all ongoing projects in line with government’s ideology of continuity.

According to Yero “the present administration in the state has continued to collaborate with security agencies with the aim of preventing attacks on our communities, unfortunately some people are bent on creating chaos in the state, but we shall not relent until the entire state is safe for our people.”
