NCoS to boost professionalism, dedication among ranks

Controller General of the Service, Haliru Nababa

To further boost the morale and motivate personnel as the Service gets set to meet targets of the New Year, the Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCoS), has dolled out awards to its personnel for exceptional performance in their lines of primary assignments.

Controller General of the Service, Haliru Nababa, said that despite the many challenges faced in 2022, the agency is relentless in meeting future challenges head-on which is why it is organising its first-ever dinner and awards night to encourage dedication and professionalism amongst its ranks.

Speaking at the dinner and awards night at the National Headquarters of the agency yesterday in Abuja, Nababa noted the importance of professionalism in the discharge of duties by personnel.

He said “This, (the awards and dinner), I believe will encourage dedication and professionalism among the ranks. I will like to thank God Almighty for sustaining us through the rigours of 2022.

“To all our officers and men, I appreciate you for holding forth all through the year especially those of you who distinguished yourselves in the performance of your duty.”

Represented by the officer in charge of the Non-Custodial Directorate, Ahmed Tukur, the CG said the service will continue to make staff welfare a priority and the awards and dinner night will henceforth be an annual event.

Principal Staff Officer of the CG, Deputy Controller General Salisu Mamman Aliyu who received an exemplary leadership award, said all the awardees were recognised for their dedication, honesty, transparency and the protection of national interest.

He pointed that “This award signifies that the organisation has reckoned with the efforts we have been putting to make sure that the service moves forward.

“The award is actually a great encouragement as it gives us more zeal to put in more effort, it is just like a promotion which means that higher responsibility is coming your way so this recognition has gingered us to put more effort and be ready for higher tasks.”

He described the event as a great morale booster for personnel.
