NGF chairman visits Niger, condoles with victims of tanker explosion
The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has visited Niger State to sympathise with Governor Umar Bago and the victims of the recent petrol tanker explosion.
Describing the incident as a tragic and devastating event, Governor Abdulrazaq expressed shock at the scale of casualties and the severity of injuries suffered by survivors.
In a statement released by the NGF, the Forum extended its condolences to those affected. “The Forum is saddened by the petrol tanker explosion in Niger State, in which dozens of people have been killed or injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones and those injured,” the statement read.
The NGF Chairman urged Nigerians to prioritise safety, especially during emergencies involving hazardous materials like petrol spills. “We call on our compatriots to act with extreme caution and absolute respect for life at all times, particularly during grave dangers such as petrol spills,” he said.
Governor Abdulrazaq also prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and wished the injured a swift recovery.
The incident, which occurred at Dikko Junction on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, has left the Niger State Government and citizens grappling with the aftermath of a tragedy that underscores the need for stricter safety measures in petroleum transportation.
