An undergraduate of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Koya Ayodeji, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for stabbing his colleague, Ayobami Ajayi, with a knife over noise.

The state police command confirmed that the incident happened on Tuesday at Ago-Iwoye, around 11:50 PM.

Ayodeji was said to have stabbed Ajayi in the lower abdomen after they had an argument over the noise that was constantly emanating from his room.

The state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said that the suspect, Koya, was under the influence of drugs and had been acting strangely before he was alleged to have committed the crime after an argument with the victim.

It was gathered that the suspect had told the victim, Ajayi, to reduce the noise coming from his room, but the victim did not heed his request. In a fit of anger, Ayodeji picked up a knife and stabbed the victim in the lower abdomen.

The Ogun PPRO, Odutola, who confirmed the incident, said, “A case of attempted murder occurred at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, on January 21, 2025, at approximately 11:50 PM.

“The incident followed a misunderstanding between two students over noise disturbances in a dormitory room.

“Ayodeji was under the influence of hard drugs at the time of the attack. He has since been arrested, and the Divisional Police Officer has requested a toxicology screening to confirm his condition.”

According to the police, the victim was rushed to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, where he was stabilized by the doctors who treated him.

Odutola said, “The Divisional Crime Branch has visited the crime scene, recovering a blood-stained knife, which has been marked as evidence. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge.”
