A group, West African Youth Peace Mission (WAYPEM), has said that the vast number of idle youths in Nigeria is the biggest contributing factor to insecurity in the country, saying that thousands of youths wake up every morning without jobs.
WAYPEM Mission President, Prof. Prince Godswill, who stated this during a media briefing, yesterday, said youths from 24 countries are billed to converge on Abuja for a summit to brainstorm on how to solve the crises.
According to him, unless jobs are provided for the teeming youths, peace might continue to elude Nigeria.
He said some of the participants would be decorated with awards for their contributions to global peace and economic growth.
The expected participating countries are the United States (U.S.), China, Japan, Kenya, Cameroun, South Africa, Iran, Togo, Ghana, Britain, Canada, Pakistan, Venezuela, Brazil, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Australia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Syria, Algeria and Libya.
Godswill said: “We seize this opportunity to intimate Nigeria and the world at large with activities lined up for our fifth world youth peace, security and economic development summit, tagged: Youth and Peaceful Economic Development, which is scheduled to take place on December 8, 2023, in Abuja.
“On that occasion, global leaders across the globe would be honoured with an award of excellence, peace and development.
“The media would be expected to assist other world leaders to unveil the World Peace Centre (WPC) Headquarters, our building project.
“The WPC is a multi-billion dollar, ultra-modern commercial complex that comprises a modern specialist university, a bank, an event centre, a multi-purpose training facility for youths and women, administrative offices, staff quarters, etc.
