Nigerian economic crimes investigator and cyber fraud strategist Kaina Habila Garba has been honoured with the prestigious 2025 Global Recognition Award for his extraordinary achievements and pioneering contributions in the field of finance. The award recognises Garba’s exceptional innovation, impact, and leadership in this highly specialised domain.
The Global Recognition Awards, established in 2020, celebrate the finest achievements in entrepreneurship, innovation, and corporate responsibility. The awards are internationally recognised as a prestigious accolade, signifying the highest level of achievement in each respective field. In the fraud category, the award specifically recognises individuals who have made groundbreaking contributions, developed innovative solutions, and demonstrated thought leadership that has significantly advanced the field.
Garba’s recognition comes as a result of his transformative work in Nigeria’s financial enforcement landscape and his contributions to global anti-fraud practices. At the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), he led Operation Eagle Flush, which dismantled transnational cybercrime rings and resulted in the arrest of 793 suspects, including 194 foreign nationals, in schemes linked to over $1.2 billion in potential fraud.
As Head of the Tax Fraud Section, Garba recovered over $1 billion in illicit proceeds, implemented forensic accounting reforms, and reduced resolution time by 40%. Prior to this, he secured 251 convictions across 500+ investigations in advance fee fraud, recovering $500 million and disabling cross-border criminal syndicates. His earlier work in bank fraud uncovered $600 million in schemes and preempted $4.5 million in losses.
Additionally, Garba’s management of seized assets returned $750 million to the Nigerian government. He is also recognised as a thought leader in blockchain forensics, OSINT, and AI-driven fraud detection, and has published works on cybercrime migration and deception strategies.
The selection process for the 2025 Global Recognition Awards was highly competitive. In 2024, only about 4% of applicants (180 out of 4,211) received the award after a rigorous evaluation by an expert panel of judges. The process emphasized quantitative performance and was designed to highlight only the most outstanding achievements.
The awards have also been recognised by major international publications, including Fast Company, Financial Times, Metro, MSN, and Radar, which have emphasized their role in redefining success, establishing new benchmarks, shaping future leaders, and spearheading innovation.
Among the 2025 winners are Perplexity AI, Raffles, BruntWork.co, and Jetpac Global, who, along with Garba, are celebrated for their exceptional abilities.
Valerie Maestro, Chairwoman of the Global Recognition Awards, stated: “We are honored to have Kaina Garba among the distinguished 2025 Global Recognition Award recipients. His achievements exemplify the spirit of excellence that the Global Recognition Awards seeks to celebrate.”
