The Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Morenike Henry, has advised the Commissionaires under her watch to ensure that they are ambassadors and protectors of public interest.
According to a statement by the Media Assistant to the Nigerian Legion, David Oloriegbe, Morenike made this remark at the passing out parade program for Corps of Commissionaires Course 14 at the Legion Training Ground in Suleja, Niger State on Friday.
She added that the Corps of Commissionaires of the Nigerian Legion serves as an extension and auxiliary arm of the organisation.
“The Commissionaires remain a vital arm of the Nigerian Legion, representing vigilance, integrity and service,” she said, adding that in a society where security and discipline are essential, “your role as ambassadors and protectors of public and private interests cannot be over emphasized.”
While advising the Commissionaires, Morenike said: “I urge you to uphold the values instilled in you during the training, the loyalty, honesty and professionalism. Also remember you are symbols of trust and custodians of the proud tradition of the legion’s contributions to our nation.”
The Director and Legal Adviser to the Nigerian Legion, Rear Admiral Jamila Malaifa, in her remarks to the Commissionaires said: “You are now going to be deployed to your various positions where your services will be required by both the private and public organisations and when you are posted, you must exhibit discipline and other essential aspects of the training that were impacted on you.”
The Commandant Corps of Commissionaire, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Captain Naroka Bako, in his votes of thanks said: “Our Chairman Morenike Henry has changed the Nigerian Legion within a little time of her assumption of duty with experienced instructors and with so many policies she has put in place at the Legion Office, Commissionaires are now in a good spirit to do their work as we never had before.”
He advised the graduate trainees of the Legion not to engage in stealing, sleeping on duty, drinking of alcohol and must be disciplined while performing their duties.
Naroko in his last remarks to the Commissionaires said the handouts given to “you during the training are meant to guide you as you perform your roles.”
