AHEAD of the gubernatorial election in Yobe State, nine political parties, under the auspices of Conference for Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), has “unanimously endorsed” the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, to contest this Saturday’s governorship election.

According to CNPP, Waziri is the only person that can free the state from the political enslavement and development in the state for over a decade.

Speaking at a news conference in Damaturu, the state capital, Chairman of CNPP, Adamu Mohammed Babangida, said that a coalition of over nine political parties has decided to endorsed the candidature of Adamu Waziri, adding: “It is only Waziri, the PDP candidate, that could bring the desired changes the state yearns for since 1998.”

He said: “We endorsed the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, as our common and unified candidate in the 2015 general election. You are a role model and we believe you are the person that will bring the desired change and development in Yobe State.

“It is only Waziri’s administration than can free Yobeans from political enslavement. The CNPP believes that Waziri’s Administration will ensure peace, unity and understanding, preserve and maintain human integrity, respect for each other and finally transparency in the activities of the state affairs.

“The failure and dismal performances” of the Gaidam-led administration are some of the reasons they have decided to drum up support for the PDP candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election slated for Saturday, April 11, 2015.”

He also alleged that health and schools and other amenities in the state have collapsed due to government wrong policies and their implementations.

Responding, the Yobe State Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Bakabe, described the group as “faceless and non-existing in the state.”

“As far as I know, there is no other political party in the state apart from our party and the PDP. What you saw is just a creation by the PDP propaganda. But if at all they exist, they are just paper-weight to the strength of our party. They should show you their offices in the town. None of them has office in the state. They are just ordinary PDP members in the state,” said Bakabe yesterday in Damaturu.

He said the APC remains the strongest party in the state, stressing that “the PDP antics are not enough to win them an election in this state.”
