NIWIIT Sets Stage for Digital Future

The Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) has announced plans to hold its 11th National Conference and 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 24 and 25, 2026, in Abuja, bringing together key stakeholders to advance women’s participation in Nigeria’s digital economy.

The conference, which is NIWIIT’s flagship annual event, will convene women in technology, academia, industry, entrepreneurship and public policy to exchange ideas, strengthen professional networks and explore strategies for promoting inclusive digital development.

With the theme, “Next-Gen Women: Driving the Digital Economy Through Leadership, Innovation, and Inclusion,” the organisers said the event will spotlight the growing role of women in shaping technological innovation, digital transformation and sustainable economic growth across Nigeria and Africa.

According to NIWIIT, an interest group under the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the conference aims to examine how emerging women leaders are influencing the continent’s digital future through innovation, inclusive leadership and strategic policy engagement.

The organisers noted that the gathering will provide a multidisciplinary platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building and the development of practical solutions to increase women’s leadership and participation in the digital age.

Expected participants include women working in information and communication technology (ICT) and emerging technologies, tech professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, researchers, students, policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, innovators, founders, development partners and investors.

NIWIIT also encouraged non-members interested in joining the organisation to apply for membership and induction through its online portal ahead of the conference.

The event is expected to foster collaboration and inspire new opportunities for women driving innovation in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
