NLRC, EFCC move to check sharp practices by lottery operators
To reduce corrupt and sharp practices by lottery operators, the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have concluded plans to mete out harsh sanctions on fraudsters.
Speaking at a joint press conference organised by the two agencies in Abuja yesterday, the acting chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, said the anti-graft body is set to fully support the lottery commission to sanitise the lottery business in Nigeria, restore sanity to the sector, as well as, increase government’s revenue.
“I call on all lottery operators to show understanding and play by the rules establishing the lottery commission, as anyone caught contravening the laws establishing the commission would not be spared henceforth,” he said.
The Director General of NLRC, Aldolphus Joe Ekpe, said the collaboration was based plans to synergised efforts in the enforcement of the National Lottery Act.
