The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, said no date had been fixed for resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

In a statement, the electoral umpire urged Nigerians to ignore the “fake news making the rounds that the commission will open the register of voters from January 25, 2021.”

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had said the project would resume in first quarter this year, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The exercise, which would cost N1 billion, is to capture new registrants, including those who have reached the national voting age of 18 years.

The last CVR was conducted from April 2017 to the last day of August in 2018, with over 84 million Nigerians captured in the nation’s voter register.
