No force can stop my guber bid, says Majemite

Former commissioner and political adviser in Delta State, Fred Majemite, has said that no pressure group can stop him from contesting the governorship election in the state.

The lawyer stated this at the weekend, in Asaba, when Niger Delta Professionals (NDP), led by Felix Offiah, also a lawyer, visited him to express support for his aspiration.

DC-23 had made a shortlist of three candidates from Delta Central for the contest, excluding Majemite.
NDP, with members across different professions, said it had taken time to listen to Majemite’s five-point agenda for Deltans, tagged CARES and were convinced that he has the deep knowledge, political sagacity and financial strength to go into the governorship race and come out victorious.

Broken down, CARES stands for Continuity, Accelerated industrialisation and infrastructural development, Revenue generation, Education and Security (physical, health, food and social).

According to the group, Majemite’s antecedents as two-time commissioner and political adviser, in addition to his manifesto, show that he would do everything to better the lives of the commoners, especially the less privileged and most vulnerable in the society.

While commending the group for the visit and for believing in him, Majemite lamented that a pressure group, which original mandate was to go round the other two senatorial districts to solicit support for a Delta Central candidate, was assuming the duty of political parties, trying to determine who should contest and who should not.

His words: “I remain the foremost aspirant for the Delta governorship race. I will buy the party’s form to contest the governorship primaries, no matter the intrigues from any pressure group. l believe I will emerge as a candidate at the party primaries because l am a grassroots politician and the delegates are ready to queue behind me as the most detribalised and most accessible aspirant, as well as the aspirant with the most germane people-oriented political agenda/manifesto.”

According to Offiah, the fact that DC-23 has shortlisted some persons as their preferred choices for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary does not foreclose the ambitions of others.

Power comes from God, and the beauty of democracy is that the party and the will of the people are paramount in determining who wins in the contest, Majemite noted.
