No Godfather’s influence on your appointment, Governor Abiodun tells commissioners, SAs

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, yesterday, swore in a cabinet of 19 commissioners and about a dozen Special Advisers (SA), saying no godfather had a hand in their appointments.The new Commissioners and Special Advisers, he said should owe allegiance to the State and “are not answerable to anyone, but to the people who must be at the centre of their work at every point in time.”Prince Abiodun also challenged them to see leadership as an opportunity to improve the living condition of the people and not for selfish ends.
 
The Governor said they would be remembered for how far they impacted either positively or negatively on the lives of the people.“I most also state that no individual or group is responsible for their emergence. You are therefore not answerable to anyone, individual, group or godfather. You are only accountable to the people who must be at the centre of your work at every point in time.
 
“Today, I want to challenge you to see leadership as an opportunity to improve the lives and conditions of those who need it the most. This is the ideal that motivate our administration and why we employed the services of professionals and experienced individuals who share the same vision and passion for the development of our dear State.“This is a deliberate strategy for us to harness the ability and energies of those who can deliver on the building our future together agenda”, he said
 
Prince Abiodun hinted that his administration would revitalise the education sector, create jobs and employment opportunities, develop critical infrastructure, as well as guarantee security of lives and property.
   
Responding on behalf of the new appointees, the new Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, appreciated God and the people for the opportunity given to them to serve. He pledged that they would not let the people down by scrupulously adhering to the oath of office they had taken.
 
The new Commissioners and their portfolios are: Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure; Dr. Adeola Odedina, Commissioner for Agriculture; Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Mrs. Kikelomo Alonge, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry; Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Commissioner for Community Development and Co-operatives; Dr. Toyin Taiwo, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Hon. Abudu Balogun, Commissioner for Environment and others.

Prof. Sidi Osho, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology; Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, Commissioner for Finance; Hon. Tunji Akinosi, Commissioner for Forestry; Dr. Tomi Coker, Commissioner for Health; Mr. Jamiu Omoniyi, Commissioner for Housing; Barr.
