National Orientation Agency (NOA), in partnership with National Association of Seadogs (NAS), also known as Pyrates Confraternity, has reaffirmed commitment to bringing Nigerians together for national unity.
Director General of NOA, Dr. Garba Abari, stated this in Abuja, during the Feast of Barracuda, held with the theme, ‘National Reconciliation and Unity: Imperative for Collective Action,’ organised by Pyrates Confraternity.
He commended the group for organising an event that could bring stakeholders together to promote national unity and reconciliation.
Abari, who was represented by Chief Programmes Officer of the agency, Mr. Patrick Chidi, said: “NAS has a long and distinguished history of promoting national unity and reconciliation. The association, through various activities, has helped to build bridges between different communities and foster a sense of shared identity.
“I am confident that you will continue to play a leading role in promoting national reconciliation and unity in Nigeria. I urge you to use this year’s Feast of Barracuda to reaffirm your commitment to these important goals.”
He noted that as NAS partakes in the festivities and engages in meaningful discussions, it must be remembered that unity does not mean uniformity. “Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and it is through our differences that we can truly understand and appreciate the richness of our nation. Together, let us embrace dialogue, empathy, and tolerance as we work towards a harmonious and united Nigeria,” he said.
In his remarks, Capoon (Sahara Deck), Abuja City Centre, Mr. Olamide Oni, said: “Our objective today transcends mere acknowledgment; for we endeavour to chart tangible solutions that will guide us towards a future characterised by unity, empathy and shared prosperity.
He added: “This is an endeavour that demands collective participation from each individual, irrespective of background or affiliation. We must engage in constructive dialogues, foster tolerance, and cultivate a national identity that transcends the confines of our ethnicities.”
