NSA delivers relief to over 700 flood-ravaged families in Adamawa

More than 700 families affected by the recent devastating flood in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State have received relief materials as part of a humanitarian intervention spearheaded by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The relief effort marks the first organized response to the disaster, which claimed lives and displaced hundreds of residents.

The initiative was jointly championed by the NSA and the North-East Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Mustapha Salihu.

The first phase of distribution targeted the seven worst-hit communities in the local government area, providing food items, household essentials, and other critical support to the affected families.

The intervention was coordinated by a high-powered committee established by the NSA and Salihu, with contributions from prominent APC stakeholders, including Mustapha Atiku Ribadu and Umar Marafa, who donated cash and other resources to support the initiative.

During the distribution exercise, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, emphasised that the beneficiaries were carefully selected following a rigorous screening process to ensure that only genuine victims received assistance.

“This is the first phase of the intervention by NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Comrade Mustapha Salihu,” he explained.

“Though the gesture is coming from members of the APC, it is purely humanitarian in nature and not tied to any political affiliation. Every flood victim, regardless of political party, will be supported.”

Ribadu disclosed that the NSA had ordered additional provisions to be made available, including clothing, medicines, mosquito nets, and other essentials, to offer more comprehensive support to affected families.

“This is just the beginning. The NSA is deeply concerned about the hardship and trauma faced by these families and has committed to ensuring that no affected household is left out,” he added.

The distribution has brought a sense of hope and relief to many residents of Yola South who lost homes, property, and livelihoods to the flood. It stands as the first significant and structured humanitarian response since the natural disaster struck.

Community members expressed gratitude for the assistance and called on more stakeholders to emulate the effort and expand support to other affected areas in the state.
