NSCDC arrests boat containing 100, 000 litres of petroleum products

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested a boat containing about 100, 000 litres of petroleum product suspected to be Automated Gasoline Oil (AGO) at the Pessu Water Side in Delta State.

The NSCDC spokesman, Mr. Emeka Okwechime, who confirmed the report, said the Oil suspects took to their heels upon sighting the men of NSCDC and escaped into the bush.

Okwechime, however, said some security personnel have been drafted into the bush to smoke out the vandals from their hideout, saying that NSCDC also busted into Avocados Creek in search of vandals, who have been destroying the Shell pipes, for years.

The NSCDC Spokesman, said on June 13, 2022, the Ughelli South Division of the Corps, the Niger Delta Freedom Fighter, and the Nigeria Army stormed Avocados Creek where suspected vandals were said to be tampering with Shell’s pipes.

According to the image-maker, a local boat containing about 41piece of pipes were intercepted at Okologba community in Patani Local Government of the state.

He hinted that the corps Special Anti Vandal Monitoring Unit also busted an illegal dumpsite in Udu council of the state were over 80, 000 liters of petroleum product suspected to be illegally refined AGO was hidden under tanks.

He said there are moves to investigate and arrest those behind the crimes.
