The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets, protecting life and property, and providing effective security services.
Commandant Keshinro Adedotun said the command has achieved significant progress in infrastructure development, operational efficiency, and strategic partnerships.
Speaking while commemorating the 58th birthday of the Commandant General, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Adedotun noted that the Lagos Command under his leadership has expanded its presence across the state.
He explained that divisional and area offices are being built and renovated to serve both urban and rural communities, with ground-breaking and handover ceremonies already held in Imota and Isiu, Ikorodu. Additional projects are underway to decentralise operations and bring security services closer to the people.
“These facilities are designed to reduce response times, improve intelligence gathering, and foster stronger community engagement,” he said.
Adedotun added that the command is making progress towards securing a permanent ultra-modern headquarters. “With the support of the Commandant General, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the command successfully obtained the Certificate of Occupancy and building approvals from the Lagos State government.
This step lays the foundation for a befitting administrative hub that reflects the strategic importance of Lagos to the Corps and the nation,” he stated.
He also highlighted corporate support, including a partnership with MTN Nigeria, which donated refurbished vehicles to boost mobility and enhance patrol operations, particularly in protecting telecom infrastructure. The command is also working with other companies such as IHS and FiberOne to strengthen asset protection against vandalism and sabotage.
On operations, Adedotun said the command has maintained active surveillance, arrests, and prosecutions targeting vandals, economic saboteurs, and other criminals. Personnel have received specialised training, including courses on handling people with special needs, to ensure professionalism and sensitivity in service delivery.
He noted that the command continues to work closely with residents, urging Lagosians to provide credible intelligence to help expose criminal activities. According to him, visible improvements include enhanced logistics with donated vehicles, new and renovated offices, stronger corporate partnerships, and a better-trained workforce.
Adedotun emphasised that these achievements reflect the command’s vision and determination, supported by the leadership of the Commandant General. “His intervention in securing federal approvals, facilitating corporate collaboration, and providing strategic backing has been instrumental in driving the Lagos Command’s success,” he added.
