The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its commitment to training and retraining personnel on the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure across the state.

State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, disclosed this during a media interview addressing concerns over insecurity and the protection of infrastructure during the yuletide season.

Keshinro highlighted ongoing efforts to monitor flashpoints and black spots across Lagos, leveraging actionable intelligence and operational patrols to enhance security. “Efforts are ongoing to ensure that already identified flashpoints and black spots are given serious attention,” he said.

He also noted the development of advanced technology by the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja to tackle the activities of economic saboteurs across the country.

According to Keshinro, personnel in Lagos are well-motivated and equipped to carry out their duties without fear of intimidation or undue influence. He commended the Lagos State Government, sister security agencies, traditional institutions, religious organisations, unions, youth groups, and other stakeholders for their collaboration in reducing crime and safeguarding the state’s economy.

The Guardian learnt that a training session scheduled for December 5, 2024, is part of the broader agenda of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, aimed at enhancing personnel capacity.

Command spokesperson SC Oluwaseun Abolurin stated that the training is designed to empower officers to address economic sabotage, destruction, and vandalisation of national assets before such crimes occur.

He stressed that the training would bolster the Corps’ ability to counter the actions of individuals who seek to inflict hardship and disrupt critical sectors of the economy.
