NUC okays inaugural Psycho-Spiritual Institute

The NUC has been urged to intervene in the ongoing crisis surrounding the registration of SLT graduates for the NYSC scheme

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved Nigeria’s first Psycho-Spiritual Institute.

Operated by the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, the institute will run as an affiliation of Veritas University Abuja, offering two postgraduate programmes.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, the foundation’s Executive, Rev. Fr. George Ehusani, announced that the regulatory body approved and accredited two postgraduate programmes, namely Post Graduate Diploma in Psycho-Spiritual Trauma Healing and Master’s Degree in Psycho-Spiritual Therapy.

The cleric explained that the Kenyan campus of the institute, which took off in 2013, and affiliated to the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Nairobi, has over the last decade produced nine sets of M.A degree graduates in Psycho-Spiritual Therapy from 20 African countries, as well as South America, Asia and Europe.

He announced that the first set of 13 candidates for the two-year Master of Arts degree in Psycho-Spiritual Therapy and the maiden 30 candidates for the one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Psycho-Spiritual Trauma Healing have all resumed studies at its temporary campus.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of Veritas University Abuja, Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, applauded NUC for accrediting the programme.

Describing the programme as novel, the administrator said the institute had met international standards.

“We are proud to be affiliated with the institute,” Ichoku said.
