National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Chris Isiguzo, has hinged his reelection for a second term of office on the will of God, efforts of his campaign team, his supporters across the country and the Abia State government.

He also described Abia State that hosted the seventh triennial delegates conference in which he was reelected, as safe and conducive for investment and tourism.

Isiguzo stated this, yesterday, in Umuahia, Abia State, during a thanksgiving service organised by his reelection campaign team tagged: Greater Height at the Church of God Mission International.

He, however, decried the conduct of his opponents before the conference, saying they instituted several court cases against him that threatened the foundation of the 59-year-old professional body.

“I am delighted that through God’s intervention, the same court that gave the earlier judgment stopping the election, later vacated the order.

“Our detractors also had asserted that Abia State was not safe to host the conference. But to the glory of God, the 1,300 delegates from different states of the federation came to Abia State and returned home safely. It is for these reasons that we have come to thank God,” he said.

In his sermon, Pastor Elkanar Godson, charged Christians to always walk with God, who never forsake His people, stressing that oppressors of the righteous would not escape the wrath of God.

He commended Isiguzo for using the service to thank God for healing his wife from challenging sickness and for returning to thank God.

Chairman of Greater Heights Campaign, Amos Duli, who also thanked God for Isiguzo’s reelection despite the distractions from his opponents, pledged that during his (Isiguzo’s) tenure, journalists would continue to work towards ensuring a better Nigerian society.
