NVBF invites 21 players to camp ahead African U-19 Nations Cup

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has invited 21 players to the national U-19 boys’ camp ahead of next month’s African Nations Championships in Morocco.

The championship will hold from September 1 to 12 in El Jadida/Casablanca.

According to a statement from the NVBF, head coach of Sunshine Spikers, Adeniyi Adekalu, has been drafted to handle the team. He will be assisted by Kada Emeralds coach, Vincent Unogwu.

The U-19 team list includes seven Premier League players, five Division 1 League players, seven Division 2 league players and two non-league players, who are currently camped in Kaduna state.

Offa VC Libero, Tiamiyu Ismail and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers player, Elisha Amedi, both got their second call up to the U-19 boys’ camp.

Adekalu revealed that the nation stands a chance of retaining the title it won on home soil during the last championship.

“If you look at the list of players invited, you will notice that this is a new crop of players. NVBF has three leagues and selecting players for national duty was easy.

“We are aiming for a treble in the U19 category and by the Grace of God, this will be achievable due to a working system in the country,” he added.”
